While flipping through Chuck Jones's fantastic book, Chuck Reducks, I came across this great example for the opposites assignments:
Notice the difference in posture and facial expression between the manager and the umpire. The mouths have an especially interesting contrast. In fact there's no facial features to read on the umpire other than the mouth (though the hat also sends a strong message).
It's also interesting to note that while the manager is more menacing, the umpire seems to be in control of the situation. This isn't merely a result of recognizing their respective places within the sport of baseball, the relationship is strongly built around basic body language and expression. The character of the umpire is not so different from a classic Clint Eastwood character squaring off against a menacing but ultimately inferior villain.
The opposites here could easily be read as loud and quiet but a better reading would be IN CONTROL and OUT OF CONTROL. The former are simply symptoms of the latter.
