First up is James Gurney, famous writer and illustrator of the Dinotopia series of books. He runs a comprehensive blog directed toward "illustrators, comic artists, plein air painters, sketchers and writers," where "you'll find practical studio tips, insights into the making of the Dinotopia books, and first-hand reports from art schools and museums." Next is a look at concept artist, Illustrator and matte painter, Craig Mullins. Craig's astounding digital painting has a clear influence from John Singer Sargent as well as unique design sensibility. Check out his website at goodbrush.com.
And the last blog I'll link to for now belongs to Dreamworks' producution artist and painter Nathan Fowkes. Nathan's blog occasionally showcases bits and pieces of his production work for the animation company, though the main focus of his blog is on life drawing and painting. His charcoal work is especially brilliant. He'll also share the occasional demo detailing how he approaches his work, as well as do's and don'ts of the trade.
